Mali Vargas, BFA, A.S.A.

Mali Vargas, also known as Mali Docktor, is an American born Canadian artist.  Mali was born in Madison, WI and spent ten of her younger years in Mexico City.  She is an artist currently dividing her time between Calgary, AB and Scottsdale, AZ.

Mali holds a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. She is  Past President of the Provincial Council of the Alberta Society of Artists and co-founded Betzalel Arts at the Calgary JCC.  As well, Vargas has served on the Board of Directors of the Women's Art Museum Society of Canada.  Mali Vargas is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and a juried member of the Alberta Society of Artists.

Mali's expression in art has been highly process oriented and relates to the material properties and interactions of layers.
