Once upon a time, long long ago, at a university far far away, there were two art students who spent most of their time together...they painted and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Austin. A few weeks ago, my friend Jeffrey Primeaux came for a visit and helped me out with Art forMS and Calyx. Throughout his stay we decided it would be a great idea to give the ole' collaborative painting a go. In Her Hues 24" x 24" acrylic on canvas In Her Hues is the result of a few days of painting and several bottles of wine. While Jeffrey and I have both been honing our skills in art and have become more determined to excel in our chosen styles, we have grown further away from each other in an artistic sense. Needless to say, painting in unison was many times more complicated than when we spent most of our time together. However, we were both quite happy with the resulting piece and felt it integrated both our views and approaches to art. I look forward to our next collaboration...perhaps in Austin. Come ye, come all! Evanescence Gallery in High River, AB will have it's grand opening on Friday May 6, 2011. This is a group show consisting of works from all represented artists (ie. Kari Woo, Simon Wroot, Lisa Brawn, et. al.) Sculpture, metal, wearable art, oil and acrylics, representational and abstract all come together at this brand new space.
