The opening night for Chromatone went without a hitch and I couldn't be happier. Before I had arrived there were already visitors at the gallery. The mood was fantastic and the presence of other artists was greatly appreciated. Among the crowd were Mindy Andrews, Luba Todorovic, Simon Wroot, Susan Kristofferson, Bob & Connie Pike, and others whose name escapes me at the moment (please forgive me!).
I was greeted with flowers and many wonderful comments as well as inquiries regarding the color, depth, and textures of the work. In fact, many commented on how beautiful the pieces are in person and the photographs do them no justice....perhaps it's my cue for bettering my photography skills...hehehe Another wonderful surprise was to see a photograph of Chromatone 2222 in the current issue of Routes Magazine. The painting was used as a background for a fashion shoot and the photos are tres chic! I would like to thank Routes for giving the proper credit to my work...THANK YOU! And, in a very a propos fashion, the magazine came out on the same day as my opening...can a girl complain?? No way! The evening carried on without a single dull moment and sooner rather than later red dots began to appear on the tags...all in all four pieces found a new home on opening night and there are still three weeks for others to enjoy the show and acquire an emotively colorful painting. So, if you didn't get a chance to attend the opening don't miss the opportunity to experience these works. Evanescence Gallery 61 - 8 Avenue SE High River, AB

Once upon a time, long long ago, at a university far far away, there were two art students who spent most of their time together...they painted and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Austin. A few weeks ago, my friend Jeffrey Primeaux came for a visit and helped me out with Art forMS and Calyx. Throughout his stay we decided it would be a great idea to give the ole' collaborative painting a go. In Her Hues 24" x 24" acrylic on canvas In Her Hues is the result of a few days of painting and several bottles of wine. While Jeffrey and I have both been honing our skills in art and have become more determined to excel in our chosen styles, we have grown further away from each other in an artistic sense. Needless to say, painting in unison was many times more complicated than when we spent most of our time together. However, we were both quite happy with the resulting piece and felt it integrated both our views and approaches to art. I look forward to our next collaboration...perhaps in Austin. Come ye, come all! Evanescence Gallery in High River, AB will have it's grand opening on Friday May 6, 2011. This is a group show consisting of works from all represented artists (ie. Kari Woo, Simon Wroot, Lisa Brawn, et. al.) Sculpture, metal, wearable art, oil and acrylics, representational and abstract all come together at this brand new space.
Once again I have been selected to take part in the Calyx Distinctive Arts show and sale in Calgary and Edmonton. You can find me there on Sunday May 1st in Calgary and Saturday May 14 in Edmonton. See you there!
